January 03, 2024 – Where is ROKU?

Some of you may have noticed our ROKU signal was down on both PBNclassic & PBNpure. There is a reason for this. And for some of you it may take a few days for you to be able to hear the signal on each stream on ROKU. This does NOT affect our regular signal via our website: PBNradio.com .

ROKU thought it would be a good idea to change the protocols and the way all broadcasters on ROKU broadcast. So, it affected everyone, not just us.

Thank God, literally, for Mike, our engineer. Mike and I have worked together since 1996, when we were first putting PBN on satellite, and on that brand new streaming sensation called The Internet. Literally, it was because of Mike that PBN was one of the first to be streaming audio on the Internet. There have been sooo many changes over the years.

Well, ROKU has been one of those changes. I remember several years ago when Mike showed me this new medium on which to broadcast both TV and Radio. It was called ROKU. He and I sat in his office and watched mostly foreign broadcasts. I just couldn’t grasp how this could EVER be used as a serious broadcast medium. Yet, leave it to Mike to be right on the leading edge. Little did I know we would soon have TWO streams on ROKU, and have thousands of listeners. I have learned, when Mike has an idea…. LISTEN!

As ROKU continues to grow, so does the complexity of the software that is used to convert TV and Radio signals to be played on their platform. Yet, Mike is always up for learning new things. He has literally spent hours and hours and hours reading about the technical changes he needed to make to the software between us and Roku. He has completed it, yet it takes time for the software signals to refresh on each one’s screen. Some of you may already have the new signals. Others, please be patient. It WILL refresh in the next few days. If you are still having problems listening on ROKU after the next three days, drop me an email from our website: PBNradio.com .  I’ll give you the “long” way of forcing it.

Claudia and I, Mike and the entire PBN Team are just Missionaries, dedicated to help you in your walk with Jesus & Holy Spirit here in these difficult days. Most of us work for little or nothing, just doing what God has asked us to do for you. It’s an honor. We hope for most of you, PBN helps you each day, and also helps prepare you for church each week.

OK. I’ve got to get back to getting some of the new music I’ve found, On The Air for you. We love each one of you, and we love hearing from you.
