Five Of The Best

Everyone has their favorite. Hey, Jesus said a lot of insightful things. Everything He said was meant to teach a lesson, comfort, or to give a command. In that sense, everything He said was valuable. There are, however, a few verses that stand out as pure awesome. Let us know if you agree, if you would change any, or if we are way off the mark.

5) ‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:16-17‬ ‭

“But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.”

To me, Jesus was saying, "Look at these kids. They have such a pure innocence. They believe just because of truth. They have not yet been scarred by the world. Look, they don't need ornate rituals. They just come out of pure innocent love and belief." I see this in my kids all the time, and it's awesome! I strive to come to Jesus as purely and innocently as they do.

4) Matthew 6:7-13

“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. Pray then like this: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

‭‭This quote makes me so incredibly happy. I couldn't pray one of those wordy, intimidating, boisterous, snoozworthy prayers if I tried. JESUS IS SAYING THIS IS OKAY! I can pray my simple prayer to God. I don't have to be ornate, spectacular, or even use proper grammar if it doesn't come out that way. I just have to be sincere, and acknowledge that He works all things for good according to His will anyway. Thank goodness!

3) Matthew 28:18-20

“And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Excited. That is the closest word I have to describe the emotion I feel when I read this. To me, Jesus is saying, "Well, I taught you all that I can. Now it's your turn to teach others. Don't be afraid. I got you! Just remember Me and what you have learned. I love you enough to entrust you with this awesome news!" My favorite part is the end. He promises to always be with us. We never have to go it alone.

2) John 14:6-7

“Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

‭‭Chills. This gives me happy chills of anticipation. We know that if we confess Jesus as our savior, He invites us into the family. We are like orphans who have found our forever home, only this is the BEST forever home we could ever imagine!

1) John 19:29-30

“A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit."

‭‭This is my ultimate, number one, rejoicing, cling to Jesus quote in the entire bible. Do you understand the implication here? In those times, people would enter into debt or servitude. This was done with notes comparable to I.O.U.s. When the debt was paid, the master would sign the note "It is finished." This meant the debt had been paid. Nothing else was owed. It was a done deal. Jesus was not only saying I came to do what I was supposed to do. He was saying the words that freed us from the contract of the law and of the shackles that hold us to this world. He was saying for all of us, "It is finished."

Let me promise you, finding just five quotes to be the best was HARD! There are so many good things that Jesus brought us through His teachings. What are some of your favorite?
