My baby girl is healthy and doing well at eight months. July, 2009

THIS FIRST POST WAS WHEN SHE WAS SIX MONTHS OLD

Anyway, here is a post from another line, that I thought I would add here too, so I wouldn't just brag on my boy, Matthew, but give some equal time to my daughter, Charness, as well.   ;)

She's quite the chunk!  Matthew was never really chubby, but oh my!  Charness is!  She's 99% breastfed, so I'm not sure why she's so chubby.  It's usually the other way around.  :)

Even though she was born 3 weeks early, she was over six pounds and never looked back!  Slurp slurp slurp!!!  Matthew hated breastfeeding, and was so delicate when he was little, so Ness' milk never came in with him.  Charness took to it right away.  She has the nicest smile which makes her eyes squinty when she smiles.    :D

When she was born, Ness thought she had Down's Syndrome because she had "Chinky" little eyes as she says (I don't think she knows that word is a bit not-so-nice if said by others) and a fat round face and chubby cheeks.   I said, "My darling, she has a round face with chubby cheeks and chinky little eyes, because YOU, my dear, have a round face with chubby little cheeks and chinky little eyes, or haven't you noticed?!?"  It's true!  She laughed at the obvious!   ;D

Matthew looks just like me (almost) and Charness looks a lot like Ness.  The only odd thing is that Matthew's eyes are quite dark like Ness' and Charness' eyes are surprisingly light brown.  Very unexpected.   Mine are green.  Charness looks very mysterious with her face shape and eye shape, but light colored skin, and light colored eyes.  Not very common in the Philippines, but everyone likes that combination.  Her hair is darker than matthew's too, I think, (but it was "browning out" like Matthew's before I left.  It was coal black when she was born.  Matthew was bald.  Very pretty little thing.  Very tall.  I'm preparing the "bat" now, so I can beat back all the suitors that will come calling when she's a teenager!  She's an angel . . . . if I do say so myself!   ::)

Charness just turned six months old now.  When she is on the bed, she "swims" with her little feet kicking and just doesn't go anywhere on the bed.

I'll say, "Charness!" and she'll stop and turn my way, and then smile really big and then swim! swim! swim!, because she knows that Daddy is watching her!

Either that or hide behind Mommy.  No crawling yet.

Charness spoke her first words this morning!  "Da Da" of course!  But, Ness is in disagreement.  She thinks she was saying "De De" which is Tagalog for "breast" and is what babies say when they want to be breastfeed.  Nope!  Nope!  She was looking at ME this morning, not at you, my dear!  Ha ha!

Actually she was probably not saying either, but I won't let Ness know that!  I'm sticking with my "Da Da" position and I shall not be moved!  ;D

However, Matthew really did say "Dadding" first and he would say it when he saw me, much to Ness' surprise, but not mine.  I would always say "Daddy loves you!" while Ness washed his clothes and cleaned his face, dressed him warmly for church,  and fussed over this and that, and rarely said "Mommy loves you!" so Ha! Ha!  It's easier to say "Dadding" then to say, "Thank you, mother, for washing my behind when I'm messy!"  ::)    Poor Ness, she really wants Charness to say "mama" first before "Daddy" this time.

SATURDAY, JULY 11 2009

Charness is cutting her first tooth at 8 months old.  She's bitting now when she's breastfeed and Mommy says "Ouch!  Charness, Don't bite Mommy!" and Matthew repeats:  "Narness, Bite Mommy!  Narness, Bite Mommy!" and we all laugh.  He just can't get the "don't" in there yet.

Charness is also crawling now, and gets off the bed by herself (usually butt first, but ever once in a while still goes head first) with thump, but we have padding all around the bed just for that reason.  Smart Mommy.

These posts are great! I really do need to print them off for my kids and put them in a baby book or we will eventually loose them.

Charness (pronounced Shar Ness) is just about to have her 2nd birthday next month. Time sure flies! She's speaking well now, even more than Matthew did at this age. She'll say "Baby poopy poopy girl!" when she needs to be changed and she has to bring me my wallet, keys, comb, and . . . ah, oh yeah! watch in the morning. If I forget and put them on first, she's upset, so I have to take them back to the shelf and then say, "Mom! I'm in a hurry! Where's my wallet?" and then she will got get my wallet, and say "Daddy wallet". The the comb, and the key, and the . . . ah, oh the watch!

Also, kissing is a big deal in the family. I have to kiss baby first, then she says, "Kiss Mathew!" then "Kiss mommy!" and so I hae to give kisses to everyone before work. If I should delay in leaving for more than a few seconds, the kissing ritual must be performed again! Sometimes several times. It has to be the last thing done before I head out the door.

Oh here's a cute story! Charness was on the bed and I gave her "butterfly kisses" all over her face one morning on my way out. She loves it! She then raised her left foot. I said, "What?!? You want me to kiss your feet!?!" I did so without delay and whole-heartedly, as that's something I like to do anyway. She then lifted her right foot; then her left again, then her right again! By this time, Mommy, trying to be funny . . . lifted her left foot in the air too! Ok, funny funny! But for the sake of "family harmony" everyone got butterfly kisses for their feet that morning that wanted them!
