“Excuse Me, But…” — From A Beautiful Black Sister

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 at 12:48 pm

I realize it’s not good form to talk about politics or religion, but I really fear God more than I desire social acceptance. And I do desire your friendship. But as a Christian, I must state that a vote for the wrong values will not bring God’s blessing on our land, but his judgment. And God knows–and so do we–that we could use His blessing.

Please forgive me if this offends you!

But we’re talking about God’s standards, not just man’s platforms, so, here it is. From a beautiful black sister:

Draw the Line!

White Christians can’t say this—and black preachers won’t touch the issue. But it’s time black Christians faced the reality about Barack Obama’s dangerous moral values.

by Kimberly Daniels

As a child in the 1960s I rode in the back of the bus. I was at the front of the riot lines in the 1970s, when I hit white boys on the head with bricks and dragged white girls down sidewalks near my school. I also experienced serious racism when I was an athlete in college.

I have been called the “N” word many times. I was taught to hate white people, and some of my relatives still call white people names such as “honky” and “cracker.” But after I found Jesus, I was delivered from racism. I am free indeed!

“Regardless of political opinions, the Bible makes it clear: Those who support the homosexual agenda and the murder of unborn babies will be judged.”

The residue of my abuse has dried up at the root, and I am no longer a victim of what I call “ricochet racism.” This occurs when the abused becomes the abuser.

Ricochet racism is a hellacious boomerang that grips the victim with pride and makes him think he has a right to hate. When I was saved, God taught me that I did not have a right to hate white people. Jesus nailed all my excuses to the cross, and I moved on.

Now that I am a born-again Christian, I do not consider my race to be my primary identity. I am a Christian first—before I am an African-American, a Democrat or a Republican. That’s why I am troubled that so many African-American Christians are voting for Barack Obama simply because he is black.

If someone won’t vote for a person because of race, we call this racism. But it is also racism when someone votes for a person because of his race!

Believe me, I would love to see a black brother in the White House—but not someone like Obama, who has embraced humanistic doctrines. Many white preachers are afraid to say this, and many black preachers won’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.

I love Obama and pray for him and his family. But as Elijah troubled Ahab in Israel, I will challenge his views because they are dangerous to our religious liberties. It’s time to draw the line.

Black Christians today need to put their faith first when they step into the voting booth. Does Obama represent godly values?

We know, for example, that he is an inclusionist. For 20 years he attended a church in Chicago that preaches that (1) Jesus is not the only way to God; (2) there is no hell; and (3) God will allow homosexuals to go to heaven even if they remain in their sinful state. Obama also has defended the killing of unborn babies, even in the third trimester.

He claims to be a Christian, but in his book The Audacity of Hope he calls the first chapter of Romans an “obscure” passage of Scripture. God’s admonition about the sin of homosexuality is hardly obscure. It is very clear!

Jesus is the only way to God, and God will surely send homosexuals to hell if they do not turn from their ways and accept Christ—just as He will do for all other sinners who do not trust Jesus.

Regardless of political opinions, the Bible makes it clear: Those who support the homosexual agenda and the murder of unborn babies will be judged (see Rom. 1:32). These were the main issues in the days of ancient Israel, and they are critical issues today.

The pro-abortion movement is tied to the worship of two idols, Chemosh and Molech, the gods of child sacrifice. The movement toward gay marriage is rooted in the spirit of gameo, a Greek word that refers to same-sex marriage (see Matt. 24:38).

How can we vote for politicians who favor these ungodly movements? The Bible says we must separate ourselves from sin and wickedness. God is looking for faithful Christians who will not bow to the gods of this world.

I know what I am saying is not popular, and some people will denounce me for it. But I believe it is time to draw a line.

Believers can no longer make excuses by pulling their race cards, leaning on their lukewarm denominational rules or hiding under the covering of a political party. If we want America to recover, we must repent. We must choose the right side.

We must stand strong for what we believe and hold our ground. We must declare, as Joshua did, “Whoever is on God’s side … stand with me!”

Is It Saturday Already?

Saturday, October 18th, 2008 at 1:36 pm

Where has time gone? It has been non stop here. Claudia and I haven’t had any time to ourselves where we could do much in the way of a blog, but we have tons of pictures to show you.

Mom, Pat and Dad

Right now I’m sitting on the bed with Sophie (one of Patrick and Ericka’s dogs) purched under the covers nestled between by legs. She is content. I feel her hot breath warming the inside of the blankets, and I lift the covers periodically in order to get some fresh air down there. I’m concerned she is going to smother, but it doesn’t seem to bother her. I think she is hiding from the three grand babies in the next room :)

Claudia and Sandy In Fort Worth

Ericka has taken off to Sonic Drive In, getting us all breakfast. She was in a hurry to get out the door. I don’t think it was hunger on her part. I think she was wanting a little peace from the mayhem, even just for the time she drives to Sonic and back. Patrick and Mindy are in the next room with our grand babies, playing a computer game. Claudia is asleep beside me, here. She is trying to fight off a migraine headache, which she gets whenever she does not get enough rest.

Needless to say, getting rest is not on our agenda, at least for another day. We have been having a WONDERFUL time getting as much “sugars” as we can before we have to say “good bye”.

BREAKFAST IS ON!!!

Claudia, Lisa and Don

I took a short break for my egg, sausage and Texas Toast. Ahhhhh… that was goooooood… and greasy, of course. I have given up trying to eat good on this trip. I will reform when I return home, should I make it before the cholesterol completely fills my veins and kills me.

Monday we went to Mom and Dad’s, trying to help them with several things on their “To Do” list. Now that it is Saturday, it has all become just a blur. Tuesday we went back to Mom and Dad’s, as Mom had Cataractsurgery, and I needed to be there with Dad while she was having it done. Dad has a hard time understanding the dosing instructions for her eyes after the surgery, and Mom is too incoherent afterwards to understand. So, I went in for the instructions, and made sure a described it well for them both after Mom recovered enough to where she could understand and retain what I said.

After bringing Mom home to where Claudia helped with her recovery, Dad and I took off for the Dallas / Fort Worth National Cemetery where the Veterans in the area are buried. Dad has been having trouble getting everything in order, for their burial plans in the National Cemetery. It is hard when documents are so old, and things have been misplaced over the years. Yet, Dad kept good records, and we were able to show his service in the Army and the Merchant Marines. On the way home from the Cemetery we stopped by Kinkos, and I made copies of each and every document, just in case the originals are lost.

Jakob, Pat, Annabelle and Claudia

Claudia and I were able to take off to see Sandy on Wednesday morning, and we spent time with Don and Lisa Wednesday afternoon up in Savannah, Texas. Uncle Pat and Aunt Claudia were introduced to their new little boy (kittie), Horatio before heading off for a nice lunch with them. Don and Lisa have been precious friends for several years.

Thursday was a special day for us all. We all took the grand babies, and we went to the State Fair of Texas. Cam and Linda (Ericka’s parents) got us all free tickets through Cam’s employer. We got there about noon, and we walked and walked and walked for the next 10 hours. Well, all but, Claudia. We were able to get her the last electric cart they had. There were people who hurried into line right behind us, and they were turned away. How blessed we were. STAY OUT OF HER WAY. Claudia is dangerous on that thing!!! :)

We LOVE the exhibit booths and the new car buildings. The Texas State Fair is probably the biggest State Fair in the United States, and we walked every bit of it, pushing the grand babies and trying to stay out of Claudia’s way in that cart :) It was soooo good have Cam and Linda (Ericka’s parents) out there with us, as well. Of course, being in Texas, they had FRIED EVERYTHING… the newest item, Fried Bacon. We HAD to sample that. I think I will pass that as part of my normal diet, though.

As evening approached, we loved sitting down and listening to the Blue Grass music. Claudia and I LOVE Blue Grass. It is just so much fun. Even on PBN you will hear Blue Grass type music sung by Kelly and Lenny with their group “Faithful Heart”… “Songs From The Red Letters”. We LOVE it.

No fair is EVER complete without a parade and fire works. The State Fair of Texas was no exception. The grand babies LOVED them… Annabelle perched atop my shoulders. Oops… watch out. Here comes Claudia when it was over. No horn. No lights. People scattering to the right and left as her cart plowed through the crowd at top speed (Now, you don’t really think I would exaggerate that at all, do you??? :)  ).

Friday, the grand babies were crawling on our bed early, followed by Patrick and Mindy… all on top of our bed. Claudia and I were still half asleep, but we were blissfully happy. The mantra of the morning was “Grampy, hurry and get your shower. We need to goooooo.” They just don’t understand the concept that Grammys and Grampys need to replenish their “get up and go” with plenty of sleep. So… I push myself up and into the shower. Did I finish? I don’t know, I was asleep. I guess someway I got through, as the next thing I know is that I’m sitting at a restaurant for lunch :)

Get out of the way!!! Here Comes Claudia!!!

Last night Claudia and I went with Patrick to Hurst, where he had his first hockey game of the season. As we watched him on the ice, we couldn’t help but remember the ice skating lessons we got him at the Ice Castle when we lived up in Lake Arrowhead when he was just a youngster. Now, those lessons are paying off, as we watched him shooting across the ice with the puck. We cheered as he scored one of the goals for his team’s win.

Now, as Claudia and I are listening to the cheerful screams of our grand babies from the next room, Claudia and I feel comfort and satisfaction, yet sadness, knowing we will soon be parted for another season. Patrick has “Kids Praise” playing as it bathes the house in worship. What a wonderful time.

Thank you for your patience with us, as we have taken a leave of absence from the microphone and music. We will be back with you on Monday, and back with our Little Producer :)

We send our love and many prayers your way. We miss each of you.

GREAT Weekend - Heading Back To Dallas

Sunday, October 12th, 2008 at 8:43 pm

Kaleb, Grampy's hat, and Grampy at Sea World

What a GREAT weekend Claudia and I have had with Patrick, Ericka and our grandson Kaleb. We have been dreaming of this time with them for a long time, and it was even better than we had hoped.

We got in after dark on Friday, headed for the hotel and crashed. We were all so tired.

Saturday morning Ericka and Patrick had purchased us all tickets to go to Sea World. Oh, what a GREAT time watching Kaleb. The Porpoise pool where he could lean over and feed the porpoises… if we had given him the fish (wow, would that have been a mess.)… the Seal Show… the Dolphin Show… and of course Shamu and the Killer Whales show. He was mesmerized, clapping and laughing along with all the music. Then there was the Underwater Aquarium and the Penguin House. Sea World has done such a wonderful job of keeping the place clean for a family atmosphere.

Last night we ate in the Mexican Marketplace in downtown San Antonio. Although, by the time we got there the shops were closed, the Mexican food Restaurants were still open. There is nothing in this world like TEX MEX food.

We heard from Greg, one of our Webmasters. He is in San Antonio for his College Class Reunion. He wants to caravan home with us. so he met us at our hotel this morning.

But, we couldn’t leave before visiting the famous River Walk and eating at one of their fabulous Mexican Food Restaurants (You can NEVER get enough Tex Mex food). We walked up and down the walkways of the River Walk, and although she had to take it slow, it was an absolute miracle Claudia was able to navigate the pathways with us.

A trip to San Antonio would not be complete without another trip to the Alamo. I used to visit there each and every summer when I would come down to my grandparents’ home in San Antonio, and spend three weeks with them. Greg took the picture of all of us in front of the Alamo. It was kinda neat. My daddy took me to see the Alamo. I took Patrick to see the Alamo. Now, Patrick took his son to see it, as well.

Pat, Claudia, Patrick, Kaleb & Ericka at The Alamo

We headed back up Highway 35 toward home. We stopped off at the little town of Gruene (pronounceed GREEN), which sits right on the Brazos River. It is just a little town a couple miles north of New Braunfalls, but which has become famous for its quaint little specialty country stores and shops. It was fun seeing what the local artisans had created.

So, now, the sun has set and we are just south of Waco, I’m in the backseat of the car. Patrick is driving, hitting 80 Miles Per Hour at times… sigh … He has a lead foot. What can I say. We will probably stop in Waco to grab a bite to eat, then head home. Greg is way behind us, giving up trying to catch Patrick. So, we have been calling giving him directions to the Pizza place where we are going to stop.

Well, Ericka just read where Exit 333 in Waco is only 5 miles away, so I better wrap this up. I’ll post more later with some pictures.

We miss each and everyone of you. Thank you for your continued love and prayers. We will return home, soon. We miss you.

We Made It To Texas

Friday, October 10th, 2008 at 7:47 pm

Ericka, Kaleb, Patrick, Mom (Marti), Claudia, Dad (Pat)

Well, Claudia and I had a great plane ride, very smooth, and we are now in Texas. We got in late Thursday afternoon, and we had a great reunion with our son, daughter in law, grandson, mom and dad (mine). As a matter of fact, it just happened to be Mom’s birthday, and we took them all out for a birthday dinner. We hadn’t seen them in quite awhile.

Today we met our youngest daughter and her husband, Mindy and Jeremy, in Dallas for lunch. Mindy and Jeremy had come to Dallas because of meetings being held by the company Jeremy works for in Longview. It was soooo good seeing them. Mindy is coming out next week, bringing our grandbabies, and spending a few days with us at Pat & Ericka’s.

As I write this, we are in the car headed for San Antonio. Our son, Patrick, and Claudia are in the front seats, and Ericka and I are scrunched on each side of Kaleb (our grandson) who is sleeping peacefully in his car seat. He is the only one back here with plenty of room. My arms are aching from the way I am having to scrunch them, in order to type this. I have to take a break every couple minutes to stretch them out and stop the aching. YEOUCH!!!!

But, I thought it would be a good time to jot a note to you all. Hold on, gotta stretch my arm out, again…

I just got off video chatting with Sandy. Now, if you don’t think THAT was weird. Here we are traveling 70 miles per hour down highway 35, about 30 miles north of Austin, and I am video chatting with Sandy, who is sitting in his home in Fort Worth. Technology these days is incredible. You should see what Pat & Ericka have in their apartment. You talk about TECHNOLOGY. Patrick taught classes for Apple, so he is up on the latest… and purchases the latest in technology.

Kaleb, Ericka, Patrick, Jeremy, Mindy, Claudia, Pat

Those two are soooo sweet. They purchased a couple days in a hotel in San Antonio this weekend, so we could all just “chill” for a couple days. Claudia and I haven’t had a real “vacation” for several years. It is going to be WONDERFUL.

Patrick & Ericka forced Claudia and me to take their bed while we stay with them, and Patrick put on Praise Broadcasting Network for us, on his computer. So, we slept to the beautiful sounds of PBN all night long. What a blessing.

I am trying to keep up with e-mail while on the road. Claudia has her computer, as well, and will catch up with some e-mail when she can.

I’ll write more later, and try to include some pictures for you. We miss each and every one of you.

Just the facts, ma’am…

Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 1:00 pm

The following was sent to me from one of PBN’s Webmasters. I HATE the political spin that comes out on both sides of the campaigns. Those of you who are old Coots like Sandy, my Bud, and me, you remember the program “Dragnet” from the 1950s. One of the famous phrases that was constantly used was, “Just the facts, ma’am.”

That’s all I care about. Just the facts. No spin.

Both campaigns are touting “Change” as their motto. In light of the facts, it is incumbent upon us to choose which kind of “change” we want. Some want one. Some want another.

Without endorsing either of the candidates, here are the facts:

Do you like cold, hard facts??? Try these…

George Bush has been in office for 7-1/2 years.  The first six years the economy was fine. A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2-1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%;
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high—14,000;
5) American’s were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations overseas, living large!…

But American’s wanted ‘CHANGE’!  So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes—we got ‘CHANGE’ all right. In the PAST YEAR:

1) Consumer confidence has plummeted;
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;
3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (10% increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION DOLLARS with prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure;
6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low.

$2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS.

YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE…AND WE SURE GOT IT!

REMEMBER… THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.
